The gallery is currently undergoing an ambitious transformation that will reimagine its potential to meet the scale and ambition of today’s most exciting artists. During this time, the gallery continues to present its programme of collection displays, family activities, and public events at RIBA North.
Since 2019, Tate Liverpool has shown work by ground-breaking US contemporary artists Theaster Gates and Arthur Jafa, staged the first major UK exhibition of artist and activist Keith Haring, and the first UK retrospective of Lucy McKenzie. They responded to COVID-19 with an exhibition of portraits depicting NHS staff from Merseyside by Aliza Nisenbaum and hosted the Turner Prize 2022.
