Unlimited has revealed the artists and companies shortlisted for the 2024 UK Partner Awards.

Since Unlimited was founded in 2013, they’ve distributed over £6.5 million of funding to 521 diverse, disabled artists.  Each shortlisted artist, chosen by their disabled-led panel, is now going forward in the journey towards securing funding to bring their vision to life.

Over the coming months, they’ll provide further details about their projects, with the final selections announced in March 2025.

We’re excited to reveal that the artists and projects shortlisted for the Liverpool Biennial partner award are:

Rowena Harris: Crip Sci-fi and Energy Re-worlding.

A crip science fiction exploration of Liverpool reimagined through disabled perspectives on energy. Crip Sci-fi and Energy Re-worlding spans audio installations and film, challenging productivity-driven urban structures. Created through workshops with disabled locals, it envisions a Liverpool shaped by rest, resilience and alternate values of energy and productivity.

Roy Claire Potter: Comms Fail

Participants explore ‘communication failure’ through the lens of amateur radio. Workshops, research trips and hands-on engagement culminate in a multimedia installation and live sound performance. The project parallels interpersonal communication challenges with potential satellite failures, exploring resilience and connection while amplifying autistic perspectives.

Whiskey Chow: Queer Fighters

Merging community engagement, storytelling and gaming, Queer Fighters reimagines heroism and self-defence through workshops and live performance. Inspired by Bruce Lee’s philosophy, ‘Using no way as way; having no limitation as limitation’, it empowers queer communities against violence, celebrating strength from softness. Using tech, including VR, it challenges stereotypes and uplifts marginalised individuals, promoting inclusivity and ‘dreamality’ through radical futures.
