Do you have a story to tell?

North West Sound Archive – Sefton/North Liverpool Recording Day

Wednesday June 10th. 11am – 4pm. Seaforth Former Post Office, Stella Precinct, Seaforth

The North West Sound Archive, based in Clitheroe, contains over 85,000 recordings on all aspects of life in the North West of England. From childhood memories of rural Lanchashire to Hells Angels, the NWSA provides valuable source material to researchers, schools, local historians and acts, most importantly, as a resource for people to find out about other people.

Do you have a story to tell?

Liverpool Biennial is running a programme of activities along the Leeds & Liverpool Canal this summer as part of Art for Places - focusing on the area’s running from Seaforth & Litherland down through Sefton and North Liverpool and stopping at the new Canal terminus in Stanley Dock.

We are looking for people to come and share their memories of these area’s and on Wednesday June 10th the North West Sound Archive will be running a recording day in Seaforth with a view to depositing material and interviews collected into the Archive.

So if you grew up around the Canal, worked or still work in the local industries, remember the re-housing of your local community, met the love of your life on the Liverpool Overhead Railway or remember family outings on Crosby Beach, we want your memories. No memory is insignificant, we want to collect all aspects of what it was like to live, work and enjoy your areas both in times gone by and in recent history.

Your memories could inform and inspire younger generations into thinking about the past and the developments that have been vital in moving towards the future.

The recording day will be run as a drop in centre from 11am to 4pm, you can book a specific appointment to be interviewed by calling Sacha on 0151 709 7444 or e-mailing sacha@biennial.com or you can just show up on the day.

There may be a short wait to record your story but refreshments will be available while you wait.
